Brandi J. Lowery is a Dallas, Texas native. She moved to Houston, Texas in March 2014. She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She has been practicing law for about twelve years (12) years 

Brandi is an Executive Bourbon Steward and Edu-Taster for Whiskey University, holding multiple whiskey certifications and recognized within the whiskey community for her expertise. She is the author of “The Barrister’s Book of Old Fashioneds and Other Cocktailsand the creator of The Barrister’s Cocktails, her own curated old-fashioned cocktail collection.

Brandi has been featured in Voyage Magazine Houston, Shoutout HTX Magazine, and CanvasRebel Magazine. She has also been seen on NBC’s KPRC 2 Ask Amy, Houston Life TV show, and ABC’s WFAA 8 Good Morning Texas. She has received numerous awards, which include the 2019 Community Activist Award; she was named National Bar Association’s Top 40 under 40 Nation’s Best Advocate, and the Excellence in Innovation award. She is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Black Bourbon Society, the Houston Bourbon Society, the Houston Bourbon Babes, and Bourbon Women.

When Brandi is not working as a lawyer, she is actively working on her brand, “The Old Fashioned Barrister, where she loves to make old fashioneds, teach others about the history of whiskey, and entertain guests by showing off her knowledge and skills.
